Our Process

5 steps to improving your life.

Over the years I have developed an in-depth understanding of tinnitus and hyperacusis. An online session starts with a comprehensive understanding of your tinnitus or hyperacusis. This is followed by an easy to understand, research supported, explanation of tinnitus or hyperacusis with diagrams and images (informational counselling). We will discuss the options relevant to your individual needs to help tinnitus or hyperacusis improve over time, followed by a written tailored treatment plan. If you have any questions, regarding how the process works, please get in touch.

Step 1. Choose an appointment time.

Go to ‘Appointments’ and choose the appointment that applies to you (i.e. initial tinnitus appointment, initial hyperacusis appointment, or both tinnitus and hyperacusis, or if you have already had an initial appointment you can select follow up appointment). Select the appointment day and time that suits you best and follow the prompts to fill in your details.

Step 2. Appointment confirmation.

You will receive an email confirming your appointment, with links to questionnaires to be completed any time prior to the session.

A copy of your latest hearing test helps me to formulate a tailored treatment plan, please email a copy of your latest hearing test, or reports related to your hearing or tinnitus, or ACC paperwork, to admin@tinnitusrelief.co.nz.

The day before the appointment you will receive an email with a zoom link for the day and time of the appointment.

Step 3. Initial meeting.

I will prepare for the appointment prior to our meeting, using the questionnaires and copy of your hearing test or reports.

Just click on the link emailed to you the previous day and we will meet for 90 minutes. Check that your camera and microphone are turned on.

I will ask further questions and then go through a presentation to explain the neuromechanisms and contributions to tinnitus, specific to you, with research-based information, and suggest the appropriate treatment options relevant to your tinnitus or hyperacusis.
